LIGHT MICROSCOPY--RESINS
Equipment
and services are available for embedding samples in EMbed-812 for standard microscopy and LRWhite for immunolabeling. An LKB Ultracut E and a Leica UC& ultramicrotome are employed for sectioning blocks, using either glass or diamond knives; semi-thin sections are routinely stained with Toluidine blue. Immuno-fluorescence or immuno-gold labeling (with silver enhancement) experiments can be carried out on sections at the request of the investigator. Trained researchers may use the Olympus 41BX light/epi-flourescence microscope in the lab.

LIGHT MICROSCOPY—PARAFFIN
Fixation, processing and embedding tissues in paraffin are performed by technical staff. A number of rotary microtomes are available for sectioning, and routine staining (H&E) or special stains are available. We also offer antigen retrieval, immuno-fluorescence labeling, and immuno-peroxidase labeling. RMC staff can run the experiments or the investigator may choose to perform the experiments in his/her lab. Trained researchers may use the Olympus 41BX light/epi-flourescence microscope in the lab.

LIGHT MICROSCOPY—FROZEN SECTIONS
Experienced personnel fix and freeze samples in OCT, cryosection (using a Microm HM550 cryostat) and stain sections. Immuno-fluorescence experiments can be done in the lab, or if the investigator chooses to perform the experiment in his/her own lab, slides of sections can be provided. Trained researchers may use the Olympus 41BX light/epi-flourescence microscope in the lab.
