Dr. Jan Ryerse, Ph.D.
Dr. Ryerse, Professor of Pathology, received his training in microscopy at the University of Western Ontario and at the University of California, Irvine. He has been at Saint Louis University Medical School since 1980. In addition to directing the research microscopy and confocal microscopy cores, he participates in the PhD graduate program, lecturing in cell biology, developmental biology, pathology and microscopy. Much of his time is spent in collaborative research projects, providing the microscopy for the research projects of colleagues at Saint Louis University and at other institutions and private research companies. Ms. Barbara Nagel, MA(R)
Her expertise includes sectioning thin and semi-thin plastic sections, paraffin and cryo sectioning, cryo-ultramicrotomy, immuno-fluorescent staining and immunogold labeling. |

|
Research interests include the disease process in interstitial cystitis with special emphasis on the urothelial barrier of the bladder wall and technical abilities includes immuno-confocal microscopy and live cell imaging. |
